The Great Keeper

Rocky mountains 1 I WILL lift up my eyes to the hills;
Where does my help come from? v.1

HIS OMNISCIENCE reigns above, not below, our circumstances.

FOCUS UP, where God is enthroned in undefeatable power.

MY HELP comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. v.2

HE MADE the cosmos, the universe, the gases, the oil, chemicals …
HE SUSTAINS all life.
THIS LORD is the One who helps me.

HE WILL not allow your foot to be moved (to slip); v.3

KEEP your eyes up, not down watching your own step.
SELF-guidance and self-dominion are burdens we’re not designed to carry.

HE WHO keeps you will not slumber;
He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber or sleep. vv.3-4

GOD is never idle in His watch.
HIS THOUGHTS never wander away from you, nor does He daydream.
HE IS intimately tuned in to your daydreams.

THE LORD is your keeper; the Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day nor the moon by night. vv.5-6

THE MIGHTY God whunfathomable Godo made heaven and earth personally guards you 24/7

WHEN the heat comes, you’ll be in His shade.

STAY IN the shade and the heat will not wither or burn you.

HE WILL make you prosperous even during dry seasons when those around you experience famine and drought.

THE LORD shall preserve you from ALL evil;
He shall preserve your soul. v.7

All evil means ALL evil.
YOU SHALL see evil, but it will not touch you as you abide in His shade.
YOUR SOUL—mind, body, emotions—is completely safe.
FEAR NOT what your ears hear and your eyes see going on around you.

THE LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in
from this time forth, and even forever more. v.8

FROM NOW through eternity—nothing else can surpass this degree of protection and sustaining
THE GOD who made heaven and earth will keep you in tight fellowship with Him, maturing and strengthening and transforming, as He completes the work He started in you.

Yes, and amen!
