Living Free. . .Yes We Can

I JUST finished a class that blew me away. Through it, God set me free to a depth indescribable. And there’s no charge, no cost. Except time. So I’ll only share a few quotes and at the end, you decide if it’s worth pursuing. My desire for you: Know God intimately, and He will change you from the inside out.

Jesus answered and said to her,

“If you knew the gift of God,

and who it is who says to you,

‘Give Me a drink,’

you would have asked Him,

and He would have given you living water.””

Gospel of John (link)

“Most people think of freedom from the perspective of bondage  → As in, freedom is the absence of something.”

i.e. If I didn’t have this job, I wouldn’t be so depressed. If I didn’t have this spouse, I would be happier.

This belief implies “we are already stuck” or that we start out stuck (an old-nature reality.)

NEW nature reality→ IT IS the absence presence of something that brings freedom → Verse

“Know the truth and the truth will set you free.”  It’s NOT A SET OF FACTS.

“He did NOT come to motivate us, to correct our doctrine, or to correct our misbehavior.”

Why He came →  john 10:10, Jn 12:46

“We are not a victim to our circumstances or environment. INSTEAD, we fall victim to our beliefs about these things.”

i.e. I’ll be free if I can stop this behavior. I wish I would stop screaming at my kids or looking at porn.

“Seeking outward changes (behavior) to set us free puts us in bondage to the belief associated with ‘outward change.’”

“Surely you will not die,” Satan told Eve → Genesis

The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil: “Opting to figure out life from our human understanding of good.” (politics, economics, church, etc.)

“(Human-defined) knowledge of good is often the enemy of Life, but it cannot stop Life.”

“Knowledge of evil lets us know when we see/do/say something evil; but our knowledge of good is never sufficient enough to fix it.”

Which prayer type can you relate to?:

“Lord, tell me what to do; where do I go?”

“Lord, what do I believe, and who am I?”

“Confession is more than repetition, and it’s not a formula. Confession is saying the same words He is saying.”

There are no formulas for knowing and following God. He is relational and communicates within relationship

“Jesus was NOT the anomaly; He lived out the truth of what is, was, will be.”

He was our example of how to do life, not by law or works, but by being connected to Life and thus “doing life” by what naturally flows from that intimate, supernatural connection with the Father. Verse

“The Holy Spirit is here to bring life back into people, not regulations back to our performance.”
