Conventional Thought Gone Wrong
Dear friend. How complicated is your life?
MY LIFE would be less complicated if I knew how every day was going to pan out, or at least the general direction my path would take. I like being in control of my life. Who doesn’t?
But…
LET’S FACE IT, the world is reckless and unpredictable. 
THUNDER storms sweep through the city, stabbing the earth with energy.
EARTHQUAKES shake up our lives.
TORNADOES spin our homes out of order.
WEATHER forecasters predict coming storms, but no one can truly predict the outcome.
And I’m not just referring to the storms of nature.
THERE is a conspiracy theory going around that says the government is ‘controlling’ the weather.
Oh really?
The Lord has given me a strong warning.
“Do not think like everyone else does.
Don’t call everything a conspiracy,
or hard, or holy, like they do.
And don’t live in dread of what frightens them.”
Make the Lord of Heaven’s Armies holy in your life.
He is the one you should fear.
He is the one who should make you tremble.
He will keep you safe.
DEFINITELY want to be on His side!
THE RELIGIOUS are far from exempt from this desire to control people and situations.
IF I pursue the belief that I can “contain” God, I become legalistic. The truth might be on my lips, but MY will controls my heart and motives.
“God created you unique . . . so let me mold you to my liking.”
Legalism SUFFOCATES and STIFLES life out of people.
HUMAN CONTAINMENT of God creates ineffective, religious clones. Worse yet, ZOMBIES! 
Not alive, but not dead.
HE IS UNCONTAINABLE:
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”
(How can I contain Someone Who’s not even on the same dimension as I am?)
When life does not go my way…
I COMPENSATE and change MY mind or MY way of doing things.
A FEW people wise up and jump out of the box of conventional wisdom.
BUT THE SAD majority of us refuses to change because tradition/ritual brings more comfort and a sense of control.
After all, man’s WILL is at stake.
MY WILL is at stake!
“Oh, the depth of the riches
and wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unfathomable, inscrutable,
Unsearchable are His judgments
(His decisions)!
And how untraceable, mysterious,
Undiscoverable are His ways
His methods, His paths!
For who has known the mind of the Lord?
Who has understood His thoughts?
Who has ever been His counselor?
Who has first given God anything that he
might be paid back?”
(NOT I)
COMPARED TO GOD, I AM
not Unfathomable, but shallow
not Inscrutable, but plain
not Unsearchable, but exposed
not Untraceable, but found out
not Mysterious, but ordinary
not Undiscoverable, but predictable
IF I’M foolish enough to believe I can “control” God, I become close-minded and unusable in the Kingdom. A vessel of little value.
LET ME NOT get stuck in this conventional mindset.
God is living . . . not dormant.
Fluid . . . not stagnant.
WHO is in control?
The One who made a donkey talk Num 22:26-31
The One Who helped an axe float on water 2 kings 6:1-7
The One Who caused the sun to traveled backwards Isa 38:7-8
The One Who made the sun and moon stood still for a day Josh 10:12-14
The list goes on! Uncontainable! Out of Control! Awesome beyond measure!
I CLING tight to God. SEEK to know Him intimately through constant communion. He’s waiting for me. Wooing me.
HOLY SPIRIT is my best friend. He knows the mind of God. He speaks the language of heaven. HE KNOWS the weather patterns for all life and guides me when I listen.
I release control. Yield. Surrender. Bring on the storms!
