The One Thing You Cannot Fight
We fight cold and flu. We fight stress. We fight back tears. This time of year, we might fight the crowd to get to that limited-time-only gift. We fight against the spread of rumors and unfair treatment at work.
We fight. And we hate to lose.
I’m here to tell you there’s one fight you can NEVER win. You cannot win because God will not back down on this matter.
“But You, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in unfailing, faithful love and truth.”
Psalm 86:15
Definitions (Hebrew):
- Gracious — He’s ready 24/7 to show you how you’re favored.
- Slow — His patience cannot be rivaled, so don’t be afraid to approach.
- Truth — It’s established! Whatever comes out of His mouth wins.
- Rich — abundant, exceeding, enough, increasing.
God’s love never loses. Fight against it if you want, but you’ll never win. Even if you back away, His love never will.
During this stressful holiday season, know beyond a doubt that your circumstances could never cause His love to back down. As you fight to meet a work deadline, His love is firmly established for you.
If co-workers or certain family members get in your face, find peace in knowing the Lord is still compassionate and ready to show you His favor. Failure is not in His vocabulary.
When you feel guilty for your irritation toward that one in-law who’s trying to commandeer your holiday plans, God remains patient. He is exceedingly slow to anger toward you.
Are you praying for a wayward child to return home? Pray with faith, knowing that God’s compassion accompanies your tear-filled intercession.
Bottom line, if you know Jesus as your Savior and Lord, then be assured that His love will never back down. Not ever. Believe with all your heart, rest in Him, and you will receive everything your soul needs according to the riches in Christ.
This season, when life’s circumstances force you to back down from the fight, press in to the abundance of God’s firmly established love and ever-abundant compassion.
Actually, when God’s love wins, you can’t lose. And that’s comforting.
Father in Heaven, You are my constant Peace. I ask for a fresh revelation of Your love that never backs down despite my circumstances and despite what my emotions tell me. Teach me to do all things from a place of love and peace in Christ.
Sowing seeds of bravery to simply BE LOVED.
