Is Your Rooster Set to Crow
SET CROW VOLUME TO HIGH
AFTER DENYING that he knew Jesus for the third time, the famous up-and-coming Apostle Peter heard the crowing. That divinely-calculated cackle set off a bout of bitter weeping. FYI: those fowl creatures squawk not only in the morning but throughout the day. Talk about an emotional trigger!
DO I HAVE spiritual ears to hear this same divine crowing?
WHEN I LIVE in such a way—
Turning to food or entertainment to comfort myself
Fixing my own problems with the newest self-help books
Insisting others meet my standards
while expecting mercy for myself
Am I doing life according to my own wisdom
to the point that my actions declare, as Peter’s did…
—”Christ Jesus? I don’t know that Guy!”
IF YES, then when did I miss the holy crow, the caw of holiness?
A COCK CROWS, ALERTING US TO THE ARRIVAL OF DAWN
The first light of a new day!
IT’S NATURAL to walk in darkness; this takes no effort. But to wake up to the Light? That takes divine intervention.
“I have come into the world as a light
So that whoever believes in Me
Will not continue to live in darkness.”
DID YOU CATCH THAT? Jesus said “whoever.” That’s awesome news. The dawn reminds us of a new beginning. Until the day our bodies die, God is a God of another chance.
Need a do-over?

WHEN THE COCK CROWS, HE’S CLAIMING HIS TERRITORY
“. . . I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.” Psa 23:6
WHOSE territory am I in? WHAT part of my promised territory has the enemy invaded or stolen?
If I already have victory, then why do I allow the enemy camp out in my territory?
WHY ALLOW fear and hate and unforgiveness to rise like foreign pillars in free territory? There’s none of that in the Kingdom of God, and Jesus said to pray, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done.”
JUST AS HE DID with Peter when the cock crowed, Jesus knows exactly what we do and when we do it. The Lord is staring directly at us, empathetic toward our human weakness and fear, but He’s also watching for our next move.
HIS MERCIFUL GAZE should move us to tears. Don’t withdraw. He’s neither surprised at our weakness nor afraid to touch it. Ask Holy Spirit to touch you.
PERFECT LOVE TIES Him to us; PERFECT JUSTICE prevents Him from letting us off the hook for bad behavior. He will never enable us to continue in sin and darkness. Fear, laziness, lying, immorality, hatred, unforgiveness . . . these are not of His nature or His kingdom.
SO if you hear the crow, wake up!
ACKNOWLEDGE the dawn of a new day.
REPENT because the Kingdom of God is here.
