Who’s Your Social Medium
♦
Got a personal guru?
Guru: an influential teacher or popular expert, authority, master, specialist (google)
ENLIGHTEN ME…NOW! How easy is it to turn to social media to accumulate immediate answers to our gotta-know-now questions? Google is probably my favorite research buddy whenever I hit a snag in writing. Madam Google appears to have an answer for everything.
SOCIALISM MEDIA. We’ve become expert socialists at ‘meeting’ online with others who share our interests. Collectively we make our world go round. In circles.
MUST HAVE! We wake up in the morning, grab the phone, check in with our guru circles. Check them again mid day. And then check one last time as our heads hit the pillow, just in case our social medium has one last iota of “essential” info to add to the “Data Smog” our brains will never fully sort through and digest.
A PLACE FOR EVERYTHING. I don’t have a problem with socialism media—unless we ignore the fact we have 24/7 access to the “Guru” of the universe, the Lord who made heaven and earth. The God who knit my spirit and soul together, creating just the right combo of spiritual and physical DNA for me to succeed at my divine calling. Wouldn’t He have the best answers?
THE MEDIUM. Excuse me, Madam Google. While you have mega terabytes of knowledge, you’ll never know the needs of my heart. Never. You don’t even know what I’m thinking at this second. Are you simply wasting my time, Madam G?
LAZINESS. If the Lord understands our deepest thoughts, even the ones we have difficulty deciphering, why don’t we take the time to ask Him our questions and let Him unzip those inaccessible heart-files? Is it a lack of patience? A fear of relationship? Do we see no value in His Presence?
What will it take to alter our “social” habits and pursuits?

The advantages of “de-Smogging” my life
Unless I intentionally open my heart to God, I’ll miss the daily Tweets from the Holy Spirit.
The Father is LinkedIn to my every need, and His Meetup time is always.
He says, “Myspace is your space,” and He has a unique Pinterest board with my life on it.
One Yelp from me calling on His name, and He’s there.
If I’m consciously reading the Word, I’ll supernaturally StumbleUpon the solution to my current problem.
My adversary will throw every conceivable distraction my way—anything to keep me from Facetime with the Father in Heaven.
EVEN 15 MINUTES of focused communion with the Lord is time wisely spent. Why? Because, “by His divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life.”
Everything = everything.
“Trust the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; Acknowledge Him in all your ways, and He will make your path straight
Do not be wise in your own eyes. Fear the Lord (His opinion matters most), and turn away from evil. This will be healing to your body and refreshment to your bones.” Proverbs 3:5-8 tlv
