The Best Seat in the Universe!

High chairs. Loungers. Papasans. Wheelchairs. Rockers. Bar stools…. These all have a place, a purpose, and even a time. I’m personally fond of the glider rocker I’m presently “storing” in my bedroom for one of my kids who is in between houses. This chair has a side pocket to hold a couple of books and it’s super comfortable. (If I’m lucky, they’ll forget about it and I’ll get to “store” it forever!)
But there is one seat that some of us are unaware of or often take for granted. One that’s far more important and noble than my sanctified imagination is able to envision. Although it’s intended for all who are made in the image of God, few accept the invitation to be seated here.

What is this seat? Where is it located? I’m glad you asked!
It’s not a luxury seat.
It’s far better than being upgraded to first class.
It’s not a seat where I’m pampered with a pedicure.
While it is the safest seat in the cosmos, I’m not there so I can just sit back and nap till all the trouble passes over.
For sure, it is not a seat of judgment.
This unique seat was created for humble nobility. Sound like an oxymoron?

A bit of backstory
God placed humans on earth and mandated that we have dominion. But when Adam ate of the forbidden Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil — and doing so without apology — he exchanged his loving connection with the all-knowing Maker for a self-righteous lust to make life work according to his limited human knowledge and understanding. In other words, man chose to separate himself from the loving God of the Universe. (Enter murder, immorality, cruelty, illness…)
Jesus undid Adam’s rebellious act by dying on the Cross and rising again. As One who was fully human and fully God, Jesus made things right again between humans and our Creator, and God made Him sovereign ruler. He’s the only way to the Father God (He paid for this), and the sole source of all truth in the universe (eternally).

Where are YOU seated right now?
If you have asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, GUESS WHERE THAT PUTS YOU?
For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 4:2-6
We are seated with Christ in the heavenlies so that we can agree with God in everything He says. Everything. The more our perspective on all of life comes into perfect agreement, the more He increases authority to rule on earth under the King of kings — in the physical realm but also the spiritual realm! This seat offers God’s child a perspective from above, not below.
This royal seat comes with honor and responsibility.
(Just because we are seated in the heavenlies next to the Judge, however, this never gives us the right to speak judgment over someone or play the role of God on Earth.)

I am seated with Christ for a reason and with a purpose:
- To do battle on earth. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
- To overcome in every situation. 1 John 4:4; 1 John 5:4-5
- To let God do miracles through me. Mark 16:17-18
- To apply His knowledge to earthly circumstances. John 16-13
- To live according to God’s higher thoughts and ways. Romans 12
- To continually be transformed into my best self! 2 Timothy 3:16-17
- To live life under God’s divine favor. Psalm 84:11
- To be free from what torments me. John 8:31-32
God’s Kingdom—His will, His way. No room for side-agendas based on man’s opinion on how life should play out on Earth (This only dilutes and delays the fullness of God’s power moving through a believer).
Do you know where you’re seated? Is it evident to others?
Sowing Seeds of Bravery to BE SEATED
If you’re not yet seated with Christ in the heavenlies, you can be right now by praying this simple prayer:
Lord Jesus, I believe in You. I’m sorry for living life my own way. I’ve messed up. Thank You for dying for me on the Cross and taking away all my sin and shame. I ask You to forgive me of all my sin. Please come live inside me as my Savior and Lord. I choose today to follow You and live for You. Thank You.
If you just prayed that prayer, you are, by faith, now raised up in true life and seated in the heavenlies with your Lord, Jesus Christ! You do not have to—nor can you—work for this position, only believe.
