In short: Opposition
Opposition: resistance or dissent, expressed in action or argument. (Google Dictionary)
2 truths for those who proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord.
- Opposition is inevitable
- Love will overcome
The more you aim to do good for righteousness’ sake, the greater opposition you face.
Crazed resistance rose against the Son of God to the point of pardoning the guilty and murdering the innocent. And yet, Jesus’s love for God overcame a hostile humanity in order to save it.
I will inevitably meet opposition. I will either choose to love or choose to be overcome by the jeers of opposition.
How can I express this love that overcomes opposition?
- Vulnerability. Walls around my heart block love from flowing in and out.
- A willingness to live selflessly out of a healthy perception of my value in God’s Kingdom.
- Participate in extraordinary acts in selfless giving: time, energy, and resources.
- Less of me, and more of Christ.
- Understanding that love only sacrifices from a place of self-worth, not self-disdain.
- Never tearing down but seeking to build self-worth in others.
Those who love bravely in the face of opposition possess this profound awareness in Christ: I am supernaturally full of the greatest worth in the universe—God’s unconditional love.
“Those who are loved by God, let his love continually pour from you to one another, because God is love. Everyone who loves is fathered by God and experiences an intimate knowledge of him,” 1 John 4:7 (TPT)
Do you possess the only love fearless enough to overcome all opposition?
Father in Heaven, thank You that the troubles I face all teach me how to live from the victory that’s in Christ and to overcome by that same power. Overwhelm me with Your love until all fear of man is gone, that I will care more about loving others than defending myself. In Jesus’s name.
