In short: Inferior
Mercy, chanan: to bend or stoop in kindness to an inferior; to favor; to deal graciously.
Do I realize how God actually bent down for me? For all humanity? Jesus Christ stepping down from Heaven and revealing the Father’s kindness and grace was a show of kindness to an inferior that is yet and will always be unrivaled.
In light of that depth of mercy, let’s test my bravery.
How willing am I to
- …bend down and tie an elderly person’s shoe?
- …to stoop and pick up something a person dropped and run it back to them?
- …to kneel with a paper towel to clean off a co-worker’s boot? (Someone actually did this for me, unrequested, and with a smile!)
- …to visit someone in the hospital when it’s inconvenient to my schedule?
- …to drive a friend to the doctor or the airport though it will disrupt my day?
- …to buy a homeless man dinner and then sit with him on the sidewalk and listen to his story?
“So lift your hands and thank God for his marvelous kindness
Psalm 107:8 TPT
and for all his miracles of mercy for those he loves,”
Am I brave enough to humble myself to be another person’s miracle of mercy?
Am I brave enough to sacrifice my time, or give up something of value to me in order to lift the value of another human being.
Or do I prove myself inferior by not taking my cues from Jesus Christ, the greatest act of mercy in the universe?

Absolutely love this. Thank you for sharing Julie.
You’re welcome, Robin. Thanks for dropping by.
This is an awareness we all need. To actually see what needs are around us we go through our day. To volunteer for efforts that are making a difference with the poor and those that do not know God. To see when the Lord places someone in our path that needs help. Thanks for jogging our awareness.
Thanks for the encouragement, Jim.
And thank you for dropping by.
