How Wide is God’s Love for You Today?

Don’t ya just love those days when the unusual invades your usual. The good kind of unusual, of course.
I had that exact experience recently. I awoke feeling rested, declared God’s goodness, turned on some worship music. After completing my morning ritual of heating up some water for tea, gathering my morning supplements, and downing a veggie protein shake, I settled into my special place to read my Bible and pray.
As soon as I sat down, this question popped into my mind:
Lord, how WIDE is Your love for me today?
Usually, this type of question would surface in the middle of my quiet time. Usually, I’d have to spend some time praying in the Spirit until my spiritual ears open into a deeper listening mode. Usually, I’d have to wait a few days if not weeks for an answer to a question this weighty to unfold.

But this time, the unusual happened, and the Holy Spirit immediately opened my understanding to a new depth. Getting to know God more intimately is an ongoing adventure. (Granted, I habitually spend a lot of time in the secret place, exchanging earthly thought patterns for the Truths of Heaven, which matures a believer’s heart-capacity to receive this type of message.)
So, I’m passing this long to you and asking God, through His Holy Spirit, to impart to you an anointed and deeper understanding of “the great magnitude of the astonishing love of Christ in all its dimensions.”
Depth – (the quality or degree of being intense or extreme) His astonishing love is utterly satisfying. God’s love for me has proved to be so deep that it has put an end to any further “need for love.” I have no desire/need to seek true love from any other source. (Stick with me for the outcome on this one…)
Length – I asked, “For how long will You love me to this extreme depth?” He replied, “For an Eternity.” It’s endless. An endless love. Be honest: does His love feel this way to you?
Height – 1) I pictured myself as a bottle needing to be filled up. He showed me how His love never caps off and so the bottle needs to keep growing to accommodate His intense, endless affection. 2) Unlike having to watch for the effects of a virus to taper off, don’t look for any (parabolic) curve on God’s love because there isn’t one. It won’t “reach a new height.” It can’t ever die down because there’s no end to its height. (If that sounds contradictory, realize the human mind simply cannot comprehend.)
WIDTH
Definition: covering a broad extent/range of things; scope or range of operation
Lord, how wide is Your love for me today?
- What’s the extent? It’s unfathomable.
- How broad is the range? I will find (and feel) His love everywhere. No matter where I go, His love goes with me, for it continually pumps through every vein in my body and invades every fiber of my being.
- What’s the range of operation? His love inherently seeks to be in operation around me, externally, like a “personal atmosphere.”

An intense, endless, never-tapering Love that creates its own atmosphere around the one who possesses it (you and me)? How can this be?!?!
Lord, I need every dimension of Your Love in my life. Activate this atmosphere around me so that anyone who dares to enter my space will encounter Your love.
If you’re wondering what that atmosphere might look like in its most genuine form, read this.
When you experientially know the full dimensions of God’s love, your earthly relationships will no longer be dependent upon who will love you back, but on who you’re willing to love without expecting a return. Jesus was always willing.
Father, grant me this same willingness to love as the Master had, and shield it with Your Wisdom.
Friend, do you know through experience how wide God’s love is for you?
What is your “personal atmosphere” like?
Does your love for others depend on how and if they love you in return?
Are you searching for this deeply satisfying love? Where are you searching?
Ask Jesus to fill you with His love today, and He will end your search.
