God is Changing their Label
A couple of weeks ago, I was meditating on Proverbs 1:1-9. Every phrase excited my heart, even though it was only the introduction to the book, written by the wisest man who ever lived back then (and probably now, too).
After several minutes of reading and re-reading the passage, God impressed upon me a word for the people group that was on His heart that morning.
Millennials, the Lord’s heart burns with love for you.
Dear millennials, where many in our culture have “put up with,” cursed, and even despised your generation, I declare over you the love, kindness, and goodness of God our Heavenly Father. He is drawing forth from among you men and women of righteousness, and He’s giving you true discernment and knowledge. He is stirring up the fear of the Lord in you. Will you lay aside worldly “wisdom” to become carriers of Heavenly Wisdom? Millennials, choose to interface with God, and you will hear and increase learning, and you will gain wise counsel because you will be generation of understanding according to the grace and power of God.
I declare over this millennial generation that as God stirs up true wisdom in your hearts He will remove the folly of relativity. Turn to Him and receive the “instruction of wisdom, the instruction of justice, the instruction of judgment and the instruction of fairness.” Proverbs 1:3
God is filling the gaps where older generations failed.
Where your earthly father left a void in your soul, your Heavenly Father desires to fill it and take you under His wings. He desires to guide you and instruct you in gentleness and sincerity. And where your earthly mother left a void in your soul, the Holy Spirit will engrave the Living Word on your heart, if you invite Him in. Your Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit will be “like a graceful ornament on your head and gold chains of royalty about your neck.” Proverbs 1:8-9
Many of you might say, “But I don’t know how I got here? Am I not a product of my environment? I didn’t ask to be born into this age.”
You, dear millennial, did not ask to be born into this age. God planned your birth according to His perfect timeline and according to His righteous agenda — and He did this without regret. Poor parenting is not symptomatic of a bad God. On the contrary, poor parenting can be your open door to prove the sufficiency of God’s grace and goodness that overcome the evils of society.
Allow God to come in and be your Father; allow the Holy Spirit to establish in your heart the depth of His love, and to nurture you as a mother would. Jesus, Son of God, calls you His brothers and sisters; He is your Royal Brother who became the Cornerstone upon which you, as living stones, are being built up as a chosen, royal people belonging to God. (1 Peter 2)
God is a molding, mending Mastermind to the millennial generation
God is molding millennials who are teachable.
God is mending millennials’ wounded hearts.
God is replacing Google as the millennials’ Mastermind, granting access to “the mind of Christ.” 2Corinthians 2:16.
The Web Scam
The opposite of the fear of the Lord is the arrogance of “internet IQ.” Do not fall for the scam that promises, “the more you master the wild wild web, the wiser you’ll be”—it’s a lie. The world is full of riddles that technology claims to understand, but only God in Heaven can unpack the riddles of the universe that He created in His wisdom and omniscience.
The enemy wants to keep your mind in a volleyball game. The ball represents “internet wisdom”—an excess of data that clogs your brain and clouds your destiny. But as you seek God with undivided attention, He will raise you up and strengthen you so that when the enemy bumps the ball toward your court you will block it from entering and spike it back into his cesspool-court— Game over!
To you who fear the Lord, the Holy Spirit will clear out the information smog, and bring clarity; He will open up discernment and understanding to all who call on Him and seek Him in the secret place. (Psalm 91)
So I call fourth you millennials who truly have a heart to know and see God: put on your Royal crowns and come boldly into the throne room to which Jesus opened the way. Humble yourself before God who desires to give your life authentic purpose and meaning and empower you to fulfill that purpose in Christ His Son.
God is changing the poor reputation of millennials. You are no longer ‘the despised generation.’ He will now call you “My Magnificent Millennials.”
