A Writing Spark
Calling all writers and wannabe writers! Both fiction and nonfiction. This post is for you. How creative are you feeling today?
The photo below sparked a memory, so I wrote a nano-length story about it. After you read my post, it’s your turn. Should you accept the challenge, you can use the same photo, or write something based on the second photo.
My Sister, My Hero.
"When I was around 6 years old, my sister, age 19, had an Afro-American friend named Debby. They hung out and talked real life. For whatever reason, I envied my sister's relationship; I wanted a black friend, too. Although I didn't know it at the time, many residents of our small town frowned on their relationship and particularly on Debby and her family because of their skin color. My sister ignored the foolishness of the townspeople and stood up even more for Debby and her family, the only Afro-American residents at that time.
"Last summer, I visited my old home and walked the town, window shopping. People of many tongues and tribes had taken up residence. Such a beautiful sight! And I had to wonder if my sister's stubborn boldness 40 years prior had caused a crack in the spirit of disunity that had kept our little town blinded to God's love for all humanity. Who knows? But what I can say is, Thanks for being a good example, my sister, my hero."

Now it’s your turn to write. Just a blurb. That’s all. Base your piece on one of the 2 photos offered. If it’s under 75 words, feel free to post it in the comment section for all to enjoy (especially me). I dare ya!
