Raining Words

There’s Rain, And Then There’s…RAIN
(Isa 55)

“The rain and snow come down from the heavens
and stay on the ground to water the earth.
They cause the grain to grow,
producing seed for the farmer
and bread for the hungry.”

Here in Texas, we’ve been praying for rain. Often. Droughts are no fun.

FINALLY, it rains. We rejoice as it fills the dry riverbeds that feed the crops, which feed the hungry.
IT HYDRATES the animals, which means more food—gotta take care of our Longhorns!
LOVELY is the rain that grows the flowers and the trees that offer beauty and shade.
THE SAME downpour turned my brown lawn to a lush, plush bell-pepper green. In some places, that same water generates electricity.
Water is power-full.

SADLY, it also points out the holes in my roof that in turn left puddles on my floor in two different rooms.
I GUESS that’s not really sad at all, is it. If it weren’t for the rain, I would never have known that my house had unhealthy leaks. Indoor seepage = not good. Leads to fungus and mold….

Moving on with verse 11

“It is the same with My word.
I send it out,
and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to,
and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”

LIKE living water, the Living Word does the same for our souls as the rain does for the earth.
IT SATURATES our dry souls and causes beautiful character to blossom.
IT WASHES away the filth in our thoughts and speech.

So then verse 12

“You will live in joy and peace.
The mountains and hills
will burst into song,
and the trees of the field
will clap their hands!”

A CHANGED LIFE is an everlasting sign of God’s power and love.
ONLY a changed life can leave a lush green trail meant to profit others. A profound word of encouragement. Laughter. Or joining a friend in deeply-felt mourning over a loss.

Hydroelectricity is the generation and distribution of electricity derived from the energy of falling water or any other hydraulic source.

We get this, too. POWER

WHEN HARNESSED in our hearts, the living Word is power over our enemy.
POWER to speak light into darkness.
POWER to speak healing and life to those around us.

BUT you have to want it. You have to sacrifice your time to take a drink. The longer the drink the better.
Water yourself daily with the real thing, NOT someone’s commentary, NOT other substitutes.

“All who are thirsty, come to the water!
Are you penniless? Come anyway—buy and eat!
Come, buy your drinks, buy wine and milk.
Buy without money—everything’s free!
Why do you spend your money on junk food,
your hard-earned cash on cotton candy?
Listen to me, listen well: Eat only the best,
fill yourself with only the finest.
Pay attention, come close now,
listen carefully to my life-giving,
life-nourishing words.
